James Edward Franco (n. Palo Alto, California, 19 de abril de 1978) es un actor estadounidense, guionista, director, productor de películas y pintor. Inició su carrera actoral a finales de la década de los años 90, con apariciones en series televisivas como Freaks and Geeks y en películas de adolescentes. En 2001 interpretó el papel de James Dean en la película homónima, actuación que fue premiada con un Globo de Oro al mejor actor de miniserie o telefilme.

Nace Shane West

Shane West was born in 1978 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He began to pursue an acting career at the age of fifteen, gaining bit parts on various television shows, but it was not until 1999 when West appeared in ABC's "Una vez más" (1999) that he got his major breakthrough. Aside from catapulting to teen heart-throb status with the success of the show, West has made his mark on the screen within such films as Liberty Heights (1999) and Cueste lo que cueste (2000). Aside from acting, West continues the musical traditions of his family (both parents were musicians when he was young) with his band, Average Jo, for which he writes and plays guitar.

Se publica la novela "Paradise Alley" de Sylvester Stallone

Hoy os voy a pedir que me perdonéis, porque os traigo una auténtica rareza que a mí personalmente me encanta. Se trata de la novela Paradise Alley de un señor llamado Sylvester Stallone, y antes de que os temáis lo peor, sí, os confirmo que ese Sylvester que nombro es el conocidísimo e injustamente denostado actor, que escribió este libro allá por el año 1978. Vaya por delante que no soy para nada objetivo con este hombre y que, le pese a quién le pese, es mi actor favorito. ¿La razón? Cuando era pequeñín y no me gustaba el cine, las únicas películas con las que disfrutaba era con las de Stallone, y eso se queda grabado.

Nace Bebe

La cantante Bebe nació el 9 de mayo del año 1978 en Valencia, aunque sólo vivió un año en aquella ciudad. Según dice la biografía de su web oficial: "Y esta extremeña criada en Zafra y en Montijo, apegada a su tierra, a su familia y su gente, se dispone a emprender una nueva aventura con un nuevo disco, nuevas canciones y nuevas perspectivas".

Se envia el primer spam

The very first spam email was sent in 1978, when DEC released a new computer and operating system, and an innovative DEC marketeer decided to send a mass email to 600 users and administrators of the ARPANET (the precursor of the Internet). The poor sap who had typed it all in didn’t quite understand the system, and ended up typing the addresses first into the SUBJECT:, which then overflowed into the TO: field, the CC: field, and finally the email body too! The reaction of the recipients was much the same fury as users today. It wasn’t until later though that the term “spam” would be born.

Stephen King publica "Apocalipsis"

The Stand is a post-apocalyptic horror/fantasy novel by American author Stephen King. It demonstrates the scenario in his earlier short story, Night Surf. The novel was originally published in 1978 and was later re-released in 1990 as The Stand: The Complete & Uncut Edition; King restored some text originally cut for brevity, added and revised sections, changed the setting of the story from 1980 (which in turn was changed to 1985 for the original paperback release in 1980) to 1990, and updated a few pop culture references accordingly. The Stand was nominated for the World Fantasy Award for Best Novel in 1979, and was adapted into both a television miniseries for ABC and a graphic novel published by Marvel Comics.
